 — The Rock County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that low-lying areas along the Rock River remained under a flood warning, and the National Weather Service indicated the river was approaching major flood stage near Lake Koshkonong and moderate flood stage in the Afton area.
The situation could worsen because rain is forecast every day through Friday.
These areas and roads are closed or are being monitored by the sheriff's office and 911 Communications Center for potential flooding:
-- Happy Hollow Park, town of Rock: closed because of the threat of flooding.
-- South River Road, town of Rock: open but being monitored for flooding. Drivers should use caution around areas of high water near the road.
-- Mallwood Estates, Edgerton: Lake Shore Drive is closed from East Road Three to East Road Seven. East Road Nine is closed from Ridge Road to the end of East Road Nine.
-- Sugar River and Sugar River Park, town of Avon: open but being monitored for flooding.
Residents under the threat of flooding are encouraged to contact their town chairpersons to arrange for sand and sandbags.
To report hazardous flood conditions, call Rock County Communications at 608-757-2244. All other flooding concerns should be reported to individual townships or through the Rock County Sheriff's Office's Emergency Management Division by calling 608-758-8440.
