Heat advisory issued for southern Wisconsin

As heat indexes rise to dangerously high levels Milwaukee County officials Tuesday urged residents to check on elderly family members, friends and neighbors for heat-related health problems.
The request came Tuesday with an announcement that several county departments have put emergency plans in place to deal with temperatures in the 90s and heat indexes hovering around 100 expected in southeastern Wisconsin through Friday.
The National Weather Service in Sullivan has issued a heat advisory for southern Wisconsin, to be in effect until 7 p.m., Friday.
The weather service warned that the heat can be most stressful on children, the elderly and people with medical conditions, and that leaving children and pets in an enclosed vehicle, even for a short time, can be deadly.
The locations can also be can be found on the county's website, along with advice for how older and disabled adults can deal with the heat.
Milwaukee County Parks wading pools are also open daily with varied hours between 10am–5pm.
In addition five area splash pads are open daily from 11am–5pm.
Deep well swimming pools are open from 12:30–4:30 p.m. daily with evening hours from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the following parks: Hales Corners, Jackson, Sheridan and Wilson on Mondays and Wednesdays and Holler, Kosciuszko, McCarty, Grobschmidt and Washington on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Relief from the heat can also be found at seven area beaches, including Bradford, McKinley, Doctors, South Shore, Grant, Bay View or Bender.
County aquatic Parks are open at Cool Waters at Greenfield Park and David F Schulz at Lincoln Park until 8 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and until 6 p.m., Friday-Sunday.
