Spring temperatures are coolest in 15 years

So far, Milwaukee is experiencing its coolest spring in the past 15 years.

The temperatures are nowhere near the record, according to the National Weather Service. But the average day in Milwaukee this year is 8 degrees cooler than it was in 2010, according to the weather service data. We haven't had a spring this cool since 1996.

From March 20 to April 23, the average overall temperature at Mitchell International Airport was 39.2 degrees. That ranks as the 33rd coolest average temperature in the past 141 years of recordkeeping.

If only looking at the high temperature each day, the average temperature at Mitchell has reached 45.9 degrees. That's the coolest high temperature average since 1993, according to the weather service data.

Temperatures are expected to be warmer than any of those figures over the next few days, though there's a chance of rain or thunderstorms in the forecast for the next three days. The high temperature is expected to reach 60 degrees Tuesday, drop to 44 degrees Tuesday night and rise to 50 degrees Wednesday.
