Rock River Trail Mtg

Hello,

I would like to invite you to attend a very important meeting coming up about The Rock River Trail. This will be a legislative briefing regarding the Rock River Trail Initiative, www.rockrivertrail.com., for the Wisconsin and Illinois congressional and state legislative delegation that represents communities along the Rock River. We will also have officials from the US Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, Il Dept of Natural Resources, and others present to talk about their programs.

The Rock River Trail initiative is an effort to create a recreational corridor, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping, biking, etc along the Rock River from Wisconsin through Illinois. There are 19 dams along the river system that will need modifications for portaging. The initiative is an economic development, conservation and environmental improvement effort that will help promote eco-tourism, jobs and environmental improvements. The National Park Service has already designated the Trail for assistance.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, February 3, at the Burpee Museum in downtown Rockford from 2-4pm.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Those confirmed to attend the meeting:
Congressman Don Manzullo
Bryan Davis – Deputy Chief of Staff (Manzullo)
